Christopher Maurice Brown

Chris Brown, for better and for worst, is one of the most prominent artists and performers of my generation. He made his debut at the ripe age of 16, and he has consistently been making tracks ever since.

However, what many people think of him as is not a singer, or a rapper, but a person who beat Rihanna. As many people know, Chris Brown pleaded guilty to felony charges against then-girlfriend, Rihanna. Since then, Chris Brown's musical career has taken a nosedive, and his Graffiti album, which came out in the same year as the incident sold poorly and had generally negative reviews. He has since apologized profusely and been understanding about his charges.

Since then, he has bounced back with a collaborative mixtape with Tyga entitled Fan of a Fan and his fourth studio album, F.A.M.E.

Chris Brown has also taken up rap fairly recently, and in my opinion, he's extremely adequate at it, having a nice flow and some nice beats. Although, it is slightly awkward to hear him talk about braggadoccio and getting girls even three years after the incident.

Do you feel like Chris Brown deserves a second chance and has atoned for his sins? Do you think Chris Brown is a good RAPPER?

  1. I think it's interesting that you made a post about Chris Brown, especially since he and Rihanna actually just released a new song together. I, along with the rest of the world, was shocked to hear the new song (Birthday Cake)

In my opinion, I think he has atoned for his sins as I am a strong believer in that people should be forgiven. Yes, he did something awful in assaulting Rihanna; however, I feel that he truly regretted his actions and offered a genuine apology to her and the music world.

In terms of his musical talents, I don't think he is much of a rapper. This isn't an insult to him; I simply feel that his style is more of that of a singer.

  2. I agree that people should accept that Chris knows he made a mistake and forgive him for something that happened 3 years ago. Both Chris and Rihanna have supposedly made up, so people should stop their criticisms too. As for talent, Chris is a menace. He's one of the greatest RnB singers and can make Pop, Electro/house, and Hip-hop songs as well. In my opinion, nobody is better on a hook. F.A.M.E is one of my favorite albums because it has many different genres in different songs. I have nothing against Chris rapping, in fact, I think his flow is pretty good. Although he doesn't compare to hip-hop legends, he does have talent. His lyrics mostly consist of braggadoccio as Eric pointed out, but he does have some unique lines.

"And she bout to bring all her friends, I'll be your see-saw
She bout to act an ass, hee-haw."

Posted below are some songs that Chris really raps in. Form your own opinions.

  3. I think Chris does deserve a second chance, but it is hard for people to allow him that chance because of the way he's acting. I think he really needs to humble his self and maybe he will become like-able again. I loved Chris Brown when he first came out because of his personality, besides the fact that he is extremely talented, but after his incident with Rihanna, he has seemed to have gone crazy.
